Social Cycling App Link My Ride Partners With Flanders Classics

Road  23/03/2023

Link My Ride, the social cycling app, has announced a new partnership with Flanders Classics. As the Official Ride-Out App of the Belgium based organisation, Link My Ride is organising a programme of free, public events with key partners, in line with the upcoming Tour of Flanders. App users will be able to find and join official Tour of Flanders social rides on Sunday 2nd April, to coincide with the highlight event of the Flandrian Spring Classics season, ending with watch parties on return to the host venues.

Launched in September 2022 by pro cyclist Tom Pidcock and his former teammate Jacques Sauvagnargues, Link My Ride was designed to connect riders, enabling cycling communities and clubs to simplify the way that group rides are organised. Link My Ride is free to use for riders signing up individually.

Confirmed ride-out venues include Via Atelier in London (UK), R247 in the Cotswolds (UK), Velodrom in Barcelona (Spain), Hors Categorie in Girona (Spain) and Luft in Los Angeles (USA). Details of each of these rides, including start times, routes and suggested speeds will be added to the Link My Ride app in the coming days and highlighted in the feed of riders in and around each location, with additional locations set to be confirmed soon. Venues interested in hosting an official Flanders Classics x Link My Ride Tour of Flanders ride-out are invited to get in touch via flanders@linkmyride.com

Link My Ride recently announced a host of new features including a Route Creator tool (UK only) which provides a new way to discover places to ride. Input preferences such as start point, distance and discipline, and the app will automatically generate multiple looped route options for you to choose from based on local, popular and quiet routes on roads and trails. Link My Ride is encouraging app users not located within reach of a host venue to utilise this new feature to create their own social ride-outs on the Tour of Flanders Sunday, inviting their friends and other local riders to join them (another new feature!) for a shared celebration of this highly cherished time in the cycling calendar.

Tom Pidcock, Co-Founder of Link My Ride: "Flanders Classics is in a class of its own when it comes to creating some of the best professional cycling races and spectacles in the world. The excitement they create around the races brings people together which aligns perfect with our goals as a company. We’re thrilled to be able to help bring an element of that to cycling communities further afield through the Link My Ride Official Tour of Flanders Ride-Outs. Along with our partnership with some of the best cycling cafes and shops in the world."

"The reason we all love Tour of Flanders is because it is a huge cycling party", says Flanders Classics CEO Tomas Van Den Spiegel. "By partnering with Link My Ride we give fans all over the world a chance to experience that unique atmosphere inherent to the Tour of Flanders’ DNA. This collaboration with Link My Ride also fits our #SetThePace mentality: bringing something new to the table that comes from love for the sport and helps growing the community. It’s great to see that not only we over here in Flanders are excited about the 2nd of April. We are very much looking forward to seeing Tour of Flanders also being celebrated in the UK, Spain and the USA."
