Anna van der Breggen: "Dit not expect to win this way"

Anna van der Breggen showed how strong she was today and was of course really happy about her successful attack. "Still I didn't expect to win this way. The solo of 25 kilometer is long. I died ten times in the final phases, but I could keep my speed high. I have to thank my team. With this strong team, we can indeed do a lot", said the rider for Boels-Dolmans who has already taken the Olympic title but she also places this victory on top of her list. "This is a really big victory for me, a race that everyone wants to win. I am really going to enjoy this."

Jolien D’Hoore: "I can't blame myself anything"

Jolien D'Hoore had to be happy with the 12th place. "I had good legs today and was all day attentive in front. But on the Oude Kwaremont I hadn't have enough power. I hoped some teammates would close the gap, but that wasn't the case. Then I knew the race was done. If I hope to win here one day? It is still one of my goals. But, I need to survive the hills with the best ones. I compare myself with Alexander Kristoff. He is also a sprinter who was able to win the Tour of Flanders."

Jolien D'Hoore wasn't suprised by the attack and strong solo of Anna van der Breggen. "During the race I had already noticed that she was really good. She didn't breath. That was a good sign and was confirmed later in the race."

Sofie De Vuyst: "The encouragements were fenomenal"

Sofie De Vuyst was again a nice suprise and ended on the 16th place. "I'm really happy. But I had to start the Oude Kwaremont with the first five. I didn't do that and that's why I was in a following group. But I have to put this in a bigger perspective, last year I couldn't have dreamed of standing here now already, and definitely not riding a top twenty. The cobble stones were at times difficult for me. I felt pain in my back, but that's a small thing if I compare it to what I felt last year after my big crash. The encouragements from the public were fenomenal and helped me to forget the pain. I keep my focus on the Ardennes classics now, these will be my goal a little bit more than this Tour of Flanders."
